My doberman has grey hair spot on back near shoulders why and is it bad?

if it is bad what can be done.My doberman has grey hair spot on back near shoulders why and is it bad?
Could be two things - a colour mutation similar to dilution, which is what causes blue Dobermanns, caused by an injury - or - if the hair continues to get paler and turn white - it could be vitiligo - an error in the immune system which causes the pigment in the hair and skin to die off, causing white hair and pink skin. It can spread in patches all over the dog, but it is purely cosmetic - it doesn't harm the dog in any way whatsoever. Vitiligo-affected dogs are healthy in every other way. It often starts in dogs around 2 years old, and Dobes are pre-disposed to it. If you ever see a person with dark hair and a obvious patch of white hair, it's the exact same thing. My doberman has grey hair spot on back near shoulders why and is it bad?
On occasion when my older b*tch corrected my then junior b*tch, she accidentally misjudged the distance %26amp; took out tiny amounts of hair at the root which grew back white.

Not a problem unless you want to show %26amp; only then if it was sufficiently large enough be described as a fault according to the breed standard.

Edit: As seniors Dobermanns do develop white hair around their muzzles.
I'm sure the dog is fine, he's probably just aging a little. =]

I don't think that you should be too worried, but just watch and see if there is any strange behavior. If something seems a little off, you should go and get him looked at immediately!

Good luck!!
Did you use any topical flea medication? Sometimes Frontline or Revolution flea medication can cause black fur to turn white.
His fur may change as he ages.
